GIS
Technical Training
Bringing
Our Clients Up To Speed
GIS
is a powerful tool used to support many types of management planning
by locating and defining resources, measuring reserves, delineating
man-made surfaces, monitoring quality, quantifying consumption,
and identifying potential environmental hazards. GDMIS employs knowledgeable
and skilled trainers who will guide your staff through the fundamentals
of GIS and many other geospatial topics to develop a level of comfort
with this new technology and enable them to generate and use maps
and GIS data on a day to day basis.
We offer a holistic approach to GIS and prefer hands on training
practices. Our trainers utilize multiple laptops to give each person
being trained the ability to practice GIS skills as they are presented.
GDMIS trainers use local data as
much as possible, so that your employees are trained to use the
same data they will use every day. Any maps or applications developed
as a part of the training are therefore immediately useful to the
jurisdiction sponsoring the training. All training is structured
to allow extensive periods of time for individual questions, for
which solutions are developed and practiced until all trainees feel
comfortable with the exercise.
GDMIS trainers teach at the level of comfort common
to your specific group and insure that none are left behind when
a new topic is tackled. Many employees approach GIS as if it is
a mine field in uncertain territory, but our trainers are experienced
in working with those whose backgrounds and vocabulary have not
included GIS prior to the training.
GDMIS will provide your employees
with detailed handouts containing step by step information paralleling
the training they receive so that they can refer back to information
not immediately used. GDMIS also supplies a phone number for your
agency to call with questions that come up after the training has
taken place, and will provide free phone technical assistance for
a period of one year. Our success depends on your employees’
success and we do everything in our power to support your program.
