Bringing
GIS to Local Government
Municipal
Government Support: GDMIS Employs highly experienced professionals
who are familiar with the issues local government agencies face
in the area of GIS data collection and management, planning and
regulations. GDMIS translates agency priorities to appropriate technical
solutions.
GIS Data Support and Photorevision:
GDMIS produces digital cartographic products including DLG, thematic
maps, and graphics. We update a variety of USGS Digital Line Graph
(DLG) feature categories. Data sources include orthophotos, planimetric
maps, satellite imagery, existing vector maps, databases, and analog
map products.
Watershed-based
Water Quality Modeling: GDMIS uses appropriate water quality
and runoff simulation models (such as EPA’s BASINS, QUAL2E,
TOXIROUTE, HSPF, GWLF and others) to evaluate point and non-point
source impacts on water quality and aquatic habitats.
Environmental Health Risks:
GDMIS can implement a county-wide GIS to identify environmental
risks and provide agency staff with the tools and information to
prioritize inspection and permitting resources.
Storm Water Planning:
GDMIS processes and integrates high resolution, low-cost satellite
imagery with local street and sewer networks to identify “hot-spot”
areas that contribute most to storm water problems. This data can
be used to estimate the extent of storm water impacts and to target
scarce resources for satisfying increasingly stringent federal regulations.
